The Mother-to-be

The soft kick awakens me The child in me seeks attention O how fast in my womb he’s grown The maternal instinct in me can’t withhold As I long for his touch Waiting to satisfy all his needs Can’t forget the day I knew That he was coming to make my life anew A new identity will I have An identity that would make me ecstatic and proud Protect and nurture him up until The days he says I’ll take it from here Like a shadow will I still follow Guiding him through life’s blushes Bask in his glory, I will Regale in his joys too Though I know the day is yet afar The mother-to-be has traveled in time
